Honeygain Statement on Third-Party Misuse of SDK Technology

At Honeygain, we built our platform on one simple but powerful idea: trust is everything. Our users choose us to share a part of their internet connection because they trust that we’ll protect their privacy, keep things transparent, and ensure that every integration of our technology is based on clear, informed consent.

Recently, we discovered misuse of Honeygain’s technology by one of our SDK partners, in a manner that fell short of our standards and Terms of Service for Partners. 

We want to be absolutely clear: this is unacceptable.

What we’ve done immediately

As soon as we confirmed these actions, we:

• The partner’s integration has been disabled, and their access to Honeygain SDK and related infrastructure has been blocked.
• Strengthened our periodic audit of all existing SDK partners to confirm compliance with our consent and disclosure requirements.
• Tightened our vetting and monitoring processes to make sure future partners uphold the highest standards of transparency.
• Prepared support resources for any users who believe they may have been impacted, including guidance on identifying and uninstalling unauthorized apps.

Why this matters

Both Honeygain and the SDK were built to empower developers and ensure users have full control over how they monetize their internet connection. But this only works when users opt in knowingly and willingly. Anything less undermines the trust that makes Honeygain possible.

We know that trust is hard-earned and easily lost. That’s why we’re not just addressing this single case—we’re reinforcing the safeguards across our entire ecosystem so this cannot happen again.
